The coverage values ranges from 0 to 1 and affects noise filtering of the mask, which is performed after the thresholding in the prior step. Larger values will better eliminate spurious flagged pixels, though it will shrink the mask slightly. Smaller values will better permit small details of occluding objects to be flagged or not.
Though this value may be the subject of some experimentation, generally it should be the least likely of the three to require changing.
