Planar Trackers are Regular Too!
Planar trackers are a heavily modified form of SynthEyes's regular trackers, so the planar trackers can be used in most places that regular trackers are: as part of solves, tracker cleanup, mesh-building, 3-D exports, etc.
In these non-planar-specific uses, the planar properties are not used: the basic 2-D path of the planar tracker's nominal center point is used, and the single static 3-D location produced by the main 3-D Solver panel constitutes its 3-D location. See Using Planar Trackers with Regular 3-D Solves for information about interaction with the main solver and see "OK, it's tracked. What Now?" for information about exporting planar trackers.
Some relevant tracker controls are available only on the Tracker control panel, and are not replicated on the Planar panel, such as the solver Weight, and the Zero- Weighted-Tracker (ZWT) status. You should use the Tracker panel to modify those attributes of both planar and regular trackers. The tracker type of planar trackers shows as a small plane.
A planar tracker has additional information such as the four corner locations, pitch, field of view, etc, that is not available for regular trackers. Similarly, planar trackers do not utilize some parameters of regular trackers, such as the position key track, offset track, key smoothing, and key every N.
Tools intended for regular trackers may have somewhat different effects when applied to planar trackers, based on the different information used and available.
Hopefully the information here should give you the basis to utilize these tools appropriately when applied to planar trackers.
