Room-Selection Tab Control
A room is a combination of one or two particular control panels and a viewport configuration. There's a pre-defined room for each control panel. The room associates a control panel with a particular viewport configuration. As you switch from room to room, you'll be switched to your desired viewport configuration as well. Hopefully, you get the views you want with minimal clicking about.
You have quite a lot of control over the details of this in SynthEyes:
- If you click the text of a room name, both the panel and view configuration will change, ...but...
- If you click the icon of a room, or hold down SHIFT, just the panel will change. (Icon- specific behavior enabled by the No layout change upon icon click preference.)
- If you change the view configuration for a room, SynthEyes remembers that change so that you will get the new configuration if you go to a different room then come back, ....but...
- If you hold down the SHIFT key when you select the new view configuration, SynthEyes will not remember the change.
- You can use the room manager (right-click a room and select Edit Room) to change, add, or delete rooms.
- You can use the room manager to add completely new rooms, for example for stereo or to have different pre-existing view configurations for the same panel.
- If you don't want SynthEyes to ever remember your manual viewport changes, use the No room change upon layout change preference. Use the room manager to make changes.
- If you want a very simple approach: with the No layout change upon room change
preference, rooms select only the panel, and never change the viewport.
The rooms are stored in each .sni file, and you can save a configuration as your preferences via right-click/Save All as Preferences. You can reset a scene to the factory settings, and save those rooms (or your custom rooms) as the new preferences.
Via a preference, you can control whether the room bar shows text only, icons only, or the default—both text and icon as shown.
