Basic Process
Running Rectify Grid is pretty straightforward:
- Open the lens grid image.
- Create trackers on the dots or corners of the grid, using Shot/Create Lens Grid Trackers or a neural net. See Preparing Trackers.
- Clean up the trackers, eliminating spurious trackers, but being sure to add trackers all the way around the edge, wherever necessary and possible, to maximize coverage of the full image.
- Run Rectify Grid (see Settings discussion below).
- Examine the resulting image and grid sizes, from the descriptive Note that shows the input settings and what it did. There is no “error” value: the result is always “perfect,” subject to GIGO (garbage in, garbage out).
- Use the image maps produced by Rectify Grid to undistort (and maybe re-distort) your production shots (and CGI footage that must match originals for workflow #2). Run the Sizzle scripts generated by Rectify Grids to quickly and reliably set up the image preprocessor.
